Doctor Hosessie, is assumed to come from the Caribbean or from Africa, due to his religious practices. It is unknown what ethnicity Gerard once was, since his skin is a patchwork of yellow, green, gray, and black. What is known, is that Gerard was an unknowing servant of the local kindred whenever he was embraced. He was a coroner that occasionally took bribes to "dispose" or "release" a body that came through his office. One night it appears as though one of his cadavers, chose to release him from his mortal coil.

The embrace has undoubtedly warped and mutilated Gerard’s body, as well as his mind. Gerard hides very well in any mask he chooses, due to his emotional aloofness. He is an angel of damnation, a devil, an avenging angel, a scholar, and a saint.

Gerard is close to the energy’s of death, and has chosen to live away from his sewer dwelling brethren, and practice his strange religo-magical practices in a cemetery. It is known that Gerard claims domain in Frederick Maryland, in the largest local cemetery, spanning a few square miles. Gerard has been quoted as saying things like "I bring pleasure to those who weep at a loved ones grave, I speak to them as the deceased, and I give them closure." He is also known to have said, quote: "I have no problem burying any being into oblivion if they need the holiday from living".

Gerard is credited with multiple potent defenses against restless spirits, and infernal persons (and their masters) who threaten the place he now calls home. He does not appear to care for the Camarilla and it’s laws one way or the other, but knows them inside and out, and how to exploit them with his vast knowledge of precedence in similar matters the world over. Some do whisper that Gerard’s many encounters with the infernal, may have left him with more then a passing familiarity with the demons of the other world.

Gerard does not speak much of his life, before his move to the area in the early 1950’s, or of his mortal days. He seems to take a perverse glee in making other kindred uncomfortable. The "slumlord" as he is sometimes referred to by other Nosferatu, has exhibited potent necromantic abilities, and is assumed to have learned them through his study of his native religion.
